Man dead in East Oakland shooting; police probe 107th homicide in 2023
OAKLAND — A man was shot to death in East Oakland early Tuesday, police said.

Few details were available in the 107th homicide of the year investigated by Oakland police. A gunshot-detection system sounded an alert in the area of San Leandro and Stone streets about 3:35 a.m.
Police said when officers arrived, they found the man with more than one gunshot wound. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
The man’s identity was not available early Tuesday, pending notification of his relatives.
Police said they do not have a motive for the shooting and they did not announce any arrests or release any suspect information.
The 107 homicides investigated by police this year equals the same number of homicide investigations that had happened at this time last year.
