OAKLAND — A Sept. 1 homicide victim has been identified by authorities as a 40-year-old city resident.
Brian Newton, of Oakland, was shot and killed around 11:40 p.m. Sept. 1 in a parking lot in the 2700 block of East 12th Street, police said. He died before paramedics arrived.
Police have not announced any arrests, nor said if they’ve identified a suspected motive for the crime. However, investigators believe Newton was the intended victim, authorities said.
