The times Joe Jonas boasted about his sex exploits but denied making a sex tape

The PR efforts of Joe Jonas and his team to cast blame on Sophie Turner for their divorce are backfiring.

A media-savvy public has seen through the quotes from anonymous “sources” and “insiders” leaked to TMZ, Page Six and the Daily Mail, as these sources have tried to spin a certain narrative since news broke that the Jonas Brothers singer and the “Game of Thrones” star were divorcing after four years of marriage.

According to the narrative, the 34-year-old Jonas is a beleaguered Mr. Mom who tried to save the marriage but who has now been left to care for the couple’s two young children in the United States — while also trying to tour with the Jonas Brothers.

Meanwhile, Turner is an out-of-control young mother who did something unspeakable on a door-cam video, which prompted the divorce. The 27-year-old also returned to her native England to party and to recapture the carefree teen years she never had because was becoming a global star — a version of events that people online have called “sexist” and an example of mom-shaming, as the Washington Post said.

One reason that fans and commenters have been skeptical about this portrait of Turner is that they remember Jonas as “a notorious skirt hound” who has “bedded and promptly discarded” some of the most sought-after women on the planet, including Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid, as Daily Mail columnist Kennedy wrote.

The career of the one-time Disney star also is full of moments when he boasted about his sexual exploits, his kinky sexual practices and even that he was more well-endowed than his brothers, Kevin and Nick. Rumors of a secret sex tape also have floated in his background since at least 2013 — a tape that depicts multiple sex acts and the use of assorted toys, Ranker reported. Both Jonas and his representatives staunchly denied the existence of such a tape in 2013, and no such tape ever surfaced.

Meanwhile, Turner’s fans pointed out that she was working while in the UK on a new British TV series, not off partying. They also unearthed a different sort of video — which shows her engaging in a perfectly tame but still revealing interview with Conan O’Brien in the early days of COVID-19 pandemic. In the 2020 interview, Turner laughingly explained why she wasn’t having a difficult a time being stuck at home.

“I mean I’m an introvert,” Turner said. “I’m a homebody. I’d just like it I if I could stay at home all day …  so this is great for me. I leave the house like once a day anyway to walk my dogs.” She also said she was fine not having to dress up and go out to events to be photographed. She said she preferred hanging out at home “wearing my sweatpants.”

Turner’s comments contradict the spin that Jonas and his team have been putting out, particularly when she said it was her restless husband who was having a difficult time in lockdown. “He’s a real social butterfly … so it’s kind of like prison for him, but it’s great for me.”

Jonas’ history as a “social butterfly” includes his revelation in a 2016 essay for Vulture that he had to break away from the family-friendly image of the Jonas Brothers. This image, perpetuated by Disney, tried to “sugarcoat” everything about his life and prevented him and his brothers from including any lyrics that were “slightly sexual.”

In a Reddit AMA that same year, Jonas dished about how he lost his virginity at age 20, to a model who had appeared in the “Twilight” movies. Then a member of the band DNCE, Jonas got a bit graphic when he also dished about how he “demolished” the room of the band’s drummer looking for condoms to use. “Safety first, kids,” Jonas said.

In other interviews, Jonas boasted about the “craziest place” he ever had sex. He eagerly volunteered that he once had an encounter in a bathroom at Lambeau Field, the home stadium of the Green Bay Packers, Ranker reported. He emphasized that this encounter happened in “the family bathroom.”

At one point, Jonas also told the LGTBTQ publication PrideSource that his track “Be Mean”  was inspired by own own bedroom antics, which includes his liking for “a little bit of S&M.” BuzzFeed News reported.

“Everyone should try a little bit of something new in the bedroom,” Jonas told PrideSouce. “It’s definitely fun when you bring some whips and leather and whatever you may be into — a little bit of S&M — into the bedroom.”
