San Jose police officer shot while responding to family disturbance

SAN JOSE — A San Jose police officer was shot while responding to a reported family disturbance at a residence near the area of Auzerais Avenue and Race Street on Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed.

After receiving the report of the disturbance at 7:57 a.m., officers contacted residents at the door of the home and “immediately began taking gunfire resulting in an officer involved shooting,” according to a social media post from the San Jose Police Department.

Officers are currently in the area of Auzerais Ave and Race St for a report of a family disturbance. Upon arrival Officers contacted residents at the door and immediately began taking gunfire, resulting in an Officer involved shooting.

At least one officer was shot in the exchange and was transported to a hospital. As of 9:45 a.m., there are no further updates on their condition.

Traffic was shut down from San Carlos to Parkmoor Avenues. Police say this remains an active scene.
