Driver killed in two-vehicle crash in San Jose
SAN JOSE – One driver was killed and another was injured in a crash Friday afternoon in San Jose, according to authorities.
The two-vehicle collision was reported just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Berryessa Road and Sabal Drive, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The other driver’s condition was not immediately known.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the deceased driver’s identity once it is confirmed and their next of kin is notified.
The death marked the 30th traffic fatality of the year on city streets. At this time last year, police had investigated 42 roadway deaths.
Westbound Berryessa Road will be closed from Piedmont Road to Sabal Drive for an investigation, police said. People were asked to avoid the area.
Units are currently at the intersection of Berryessa Rd and Sabal Dr for fatal collision involving two vehicles.
Both adult drivers transported to a local hospital. One pronounced deceased, the second driver with unknown injuries.
